Thanks PD! It is interesting you commented on Sweetheart Darlin' and that you spelt it in its original form. I always list it as Sweetheart Darling. I have an original 78rpm record of that recording which is Hawaiian guitar accompanied by a Wurlitzer organ from the 1930s. What does the sanskrit say? Shine On Michael

Hi Michael,
I got my Call of the Blues through the letter box this morning. I have really enjoyed listening to it. What a great fusion of music styles! Like you say in the liner notes, you all blend together completely naturally despite the different musical backgrounds.
I hope you are going to keep this project going. I look forward to hearing how it develops.
Slide on, Pat

Hi Waffle and Pat,
Thank you!
The trio is not going to stop. We are only just getting going and every time we meet up for a tour or a festival the music develops and grows. I would like to record our next album in India, which would completely turn the tables around. We won't be doing that for a while, but it is something that I would like to do.

Don't take this the wrong way but, tho I was fairly sure I'd come to appreciate this album, I was also anticipating a difficult first listen or three. But not a bit of it - the whole thing is instantly likeable and, for me at least, it just works. Groovy stuff! Congrats to all involved

CD arrived in this morning's post. I am resisting temptation - you have the privilege (as do I) of being the first CD to be played in my new car when i pick it up tomorrow. I know it will be good so no pressure ;-)

Hi Bod,
Thank you for your kind words. You know I think a lot of people have the wrong pre-conception of what this album is about. It is not anything like any other East meets West fusion that I know of. It is anything but an esoteric mix of musicians from different cultures jamming together. We are a fully formed and well rehearsed band with our own accessible sound. We have played festivals and had 5000 people jumping up and down! Doing 'A Meeting By The River' or trying to be John McLaughlin, is a million miles from what we are about. Don't get me wrong, I love Indian classical music in its pure form, just as I love blues in its pure form, but that is not what I am about and it is not what we set out to achieve.
I have been hearing this sound in my head ever since I first heard Indian classical slide guitar 35 years ago. It wasn't until I met Manish in Mumbai three years ago and we started jamming Fred McDowell songs, that I could turn the idea into a reality.
Of all the records I have made in my career, to me this is the most pure blues album of all. The reception we are getting from the media around the world is amazing. I really did not expect it to be so well received.
I'll stop babbling now....

I know I said I would take it down tonight, but I will leave the MM Forum 10% discount up until tomorrow evening. So if anyone wants to take advantage of the offer.... don't hang around!

Hi Michael
Wow what a great CD. My favourite track is You Got to Move, absolutely haunting.
If you don't mind me asking how did you select which songs to play/select for the album?
Many thanks Steve IOM
