Hope this is the right forum. Does anybody know what Charlie Parr uses for strings and guage on his National Reso's? Ive found articles on his guitars but he doesnt mention strings or picks. Rich O

I find that most living guitarists are surprisingly accessible, either through their websites, Facebook, Instagram or email. If you're polite when you ask, they almost always respond.

One thing I have noticed (love Charlie Parr!) is that on some of his Nats he puts a Banjo tuner in the middle of his headstock and runs a 7th string.

I wrote to Charlie on 9/24. No response as of yet. I'm gonna try again. I am sure he gets a ton of fan mail. No worries,.just an update for the thread.

Just got an answer! "I've been using D'Addarrio Jazz mediums, the nickel ones, for a long time they seem to hold up well and since I also plug in they play better to the pickup than bronze."

Awesome.... Thanks for the update.Nickel makes sense. My National Hotplate responds well to nickel.
