Cheers guys- it's frustrating because I spent quite a bit of time checking forums for the safest courier and found loads of recommendations for UPS. I certainly shan't be using them again!
Nope still no guitar and no further response to my emails. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Hi Twistedbiscuit.
Like yourself I have been playing guitar for years but have always hankered after a slide guitar - it has only taken me twenty odd years to get one I too got a 2nd hand MM Blues 12 fret at the weekend and have to tell you the wait will be worth it, although you may develop some strange 'attachments'.
I have taken to sitting mine on the couch and just gazing at it, nipping home from work at lunch to have a play and perhaps most worrying... playing it in the bathroom. I just like the sound off the tiles.
In fact, take a look see Bathroom Blues but don't be put off by my playing, I too am new to this.
Welcome and happy sliding!

I have taken to sitting mine on the couch and just gazing at it,
LOL yeah that's normal behaviour in our house, my wife does it with shoes and only last night I was gazing lovingly at a new looper pedal! If this guitar ever turns up I shall make a small shrine to it in the corner of the living room
Very nice playing beaverHausen! Do you have any recommendations of books or websites for learning slide?

+1 on the shoes... my wife's shoe cupboard used to belong to Imelda Marcos I'm certain of it lol. I have Michael's DVD which is very good and gives lessons in both open D and G, I also have CD's 1 & 2 by Keni Lee Burgess again open D & G, and Mike Dowlings DVD's surprisingly enough... for open D & G. I have a couple of books but find it hard to read the tab sometimes, the rest of the time I'm scouring youtube trying to figure out the fingering and positions.

Thanks! I think I might start with Michaels DVD and see how it goes from there.

Hi Twistedbiscuit, Here's hoping it arrives safely today! The MM dvd is being re-packaged and will be available sometime in October...I'm after one of these too, being new myself to slide. There are some lessons on youtube to get you started in the interim. Orbital.

So are you able to start a claim immediately, or do you have to wait a certain amount of time to see if it turns up somewhere in the UPS system? I feel your frustration, and frustration probably doesn't do it justice! Orbital.

He's given me a number to ring this evening - he didn't actually know what happens next. Hopefully there'll be a ray of hope when I speak to someone else. If it really has disappeared and they agree to pay up I'm unlikely to find another at such a reasonable price.

That's awful and I feel for you. However, I had a similar experience and went down to my nearest UPS depot (about 20 miles away) in person and stirred 'em up a bit - politely - face to face by refusing to leave until I actually saw / heard them do the trace. Lo and behold they found the item in about ten minutes and delivered it at 7:00hrs. the following morning. Might be worth a try if you have the time.
