You're correct in thinking Jimmy Page thought the DC-59 made a pretty good slide guitar

Oh yes, you are correct. Fit 'em with Michael Messer Electric Slide Classic Strings, put a wedge under the bridge plate to stop it distorting under the extra tension, plug it into a Torres Modded Fender Champ 12 via a Diaz Tremodillo, stick a Diamond Bottleneck Pill Bottle Slide on your pinky and join the club.

Hendrix, Beck, Trucks, McMurtry, Page...
must be something there. not just for slide use.
don't limit yourself to searching for just this brand/model.
haven't even played one myself, feeling that a full hollow body sounds mobetter than semi hollow through a low wattage amp for slide. turn the PUPs down, and the amp up to just beyond the edge of feedback. then it can be controlled with pick attack and palm muting. use the bridge volume as an EQ treble, and the neck volume for bass.
feel safe saying they get fairly useless through high powered amps. the ticket would be multi-gain stages for large venue use.
low watt amp close mic'ed>PA system, with speakers that ~aren't~ directed at the guitar.
my favorite low end retro-cheeze slide guitar is an epiphone EA 250.
YMMV, mitchfit

Wedge-it's actually a suitably sized cuboid of aluminium cut from an old window frame. I got through two bridge plates before I did this support trick. Make sure you fit the strings and adjust the action and truss rod prior to measuring the height required (from underside of bridge plate to body surface). The length is governed by the distance between the front two bridge height adjustment screws. It must fit between them. Minimum width 6mm. This then should stop the bridge bowing downwards due to the string pressure. Oh, it improved the tone and sustain too. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Nice track.... Interesting, it's happened to two of mine; a 2006 and a 2013 both strung with heavy strings tuned to E. Maybe they're using a softer steel these days?

Strung with 11's and it's from around 1999.

Aha! Heavy 12s with wound thirds along with softer steel may be the reason?
