Back at the end of May I won a 1936 Dobro M-32 on the bay.
Nice guitar with a known history from 1944, the cone had been replaced with a Quarterman in 2001.
Mike Lewis is trying to sort out the original lugged cone for me.
Plays nicely and sounds good.
However, the previous owner had stripped off the original Gold Duco finish.
I searched to see if I could find someone to do a refinish a bit closer to home in the UK.
On this forum I discovered that Roger Hubbard had refurbished and refinished Graham Hines M-32 in gold Duco for him.
I contacted Roger and asked if he could help.
On the stripped body there was evidence of straight crystal formation rather than "flowers" so I asked Roger if he could keep it simple, crystal like and not "flowery".
Yup, he did - see before and after pics. below.
OK, so it is not all perfect, super and original but I'm a happy bunny.
BTW I also got to see Roger playing with Buick6 when I delivered the guitar.
Great band and a fun gig worth catching.
