Hi Mickey ..u misunderstood the question ..i am asking how different a MM Blues will sound with a national cone compared with a standard one? Ah. I thought you were asking if you could put the MM cone into the Countryman, sorry. Well that was his first question! ... my question is... would the original cone and bridge from the MM fit the countryman and would it sound better? Jon

Indeed it was ..but the 1st question was open to everyone to answer.. the 2nd one about putting a national cone in an MM was the one directed at Michael.

Michael's explanation certainly need not be validated by anyone, but I figured I'd add my personal experience. I have a Republic Hwy 61 that was expertly set up and plays like butter. I know it's not an MM, but it has the exact same cone and and biscuit. I had a brand new Hot Rod cone laying around and I couldn't resist the temptation to put it in. I got the set up to match and while it does sound different, I certainly wouldn't call it better. The NRP seems to have a bit more of a "boomy" low end. I would totally agree that it is a waste of money to swap them, the Continentals are good cones!

If I may, since I received my MM Blues '28 I have been tempted to buy a hotrod cone but... it has settled and just seems to be playing in very nicely. If I had a hotrod cone I too might be tempted to compare but really I don't feel the need, it sings as it is.
