Brett will most certainly be able to make you a 'Redhouse' bottleneck to any size you wish ~ but unless he has a 'Blue Diamond' tube in his own stock you'll need to order direct from me Well, I haven't heard back from him yet, so maybe he's in transit? Should I just go ahead and order from the main site? (I kind of like the idea that he's out here in the French boondocks like me...) One suggestion/request : I ended up watching a lot of the various Diamond slide videos -- plenty of great players. But what I would really like to see is a good quality video or audio comparing the different slides - all on the same guitar - to get an idea of the differences in sound (if any). Unless this already exists?

He may well be out on-site fitting these chandeliers (Brett spent a month in Venice at the beginning of this year....it's a tough job....etc) Drop me a line at the main site when you're ready mickeyz and i'll sort it out for you There are a couple of youtube vids featuring tone comparisons of our slides made by customers ~ but there are so many variables to consider in doing such a video that unfortunately the end result wouldn't really help in choosing your ideal slide. String gauges, different pick 'attack' on the strings - picks or no picks...even player fatigue if the video took a few hours to complete would all need to be taken into consideration. Look forward to hearing from you ~ Slide On! Ian.

Sure, that's reasonable. Besides, I'm looking forward to doing my own side-by-side comparison But I just spoke to Brett on the phone -- he's around, he says he has a couple of blue bottles in the shop, and he should have the slides posted to me by the end of the week. Nice!

I think it should be a 'side by slide' comparison.... Shine On Michael

The slides got here today (the French post office kicks butt!). I like the sound of both, I'd say the Blue Diamond has a more precise tone to it. (I'm actually surprised there really is a difference in tone). And they both make it easier (compared to the Dunlop I've been using) to vary my vibrato, something I'm still learning how to do.
The Redhouse fits me better - and I had it cut quite short, which I really like. The Blue Diamond is a bit tight on my pinky, but we're having a heatwave it might be that. I asked Brett if there's a way to have the interior thinned a bit at one end, and if I can get it cut shorter too. But if he can't do it, I think I'll give the Blue Diamond to my brother-in-law (who'll love it) and order an Ultimate instead - the interior of those are more flexible, since they're not cut from bottles, am I right?
Oh yeah-- I really like Brett's logo too, I'd love to have it on the slide itself.

Great news though mickeyzs no excuses now you have a touch of glass, sorry class to play with.

Heh... I figured my "turnaround" joke couldn't be worse than any of the others...
Anyway, my brother-in-law's going to have to wait a while before I give him the Blue Diamond... plays too sweet to give up just yet... and a bit of talcum powder on my finger sorts it out just fine (it's not that tight, I just get a bit claustropohic when the slide "sticks" at the base of my finger).
One thing I like about both Diamond slides is they have the natural taper from the bottles.
