Do they sound very different? Both are single coned and apart from the finish, look similar.

philh my understanding is the lightening is brass and the blues steel, brass having a warmer sound. Sound samples of both on the website www.michaelmesser.co.uk/ scroll down the left hand column then look towards the bottom of that page. Mike

Hi Philh,
Absolutely ....they sound different. As Mike has pointed out, the MM BLUES has a steel body and the MM LIGHTNING has a brass body. They are both great sounding guitars and each has its own character. The brass bodied Lightning has a more sophisticated sound with possibly more overtones and harmonics. They are both great slide guitars and both great for any style, it just depends on personal taste really. The sound clips do more than my words can.
