Hi Guys
I have mentioned a couple of times of late about my new guitar. Have been rushed off my feet since I got it so sadly haven't had the time to post, or even play it a huge amount yet. I wanted to share though because it is by a Luthier that I was not aware of before but his work is so good, it deserves to be shared!!
I have been on the hunt for a straight up acoustic for playing country blues on for a while now and have tried everything I could get my hands on up to the £2k mark (not that I could afford to go that high) to try and get a real feel for what is out there. I was expecting to walk away with a Martin 000-15SM or something similar but was overwhelmingly underwhelmed by all the Martin's I played but then came across a second hand Toon Charlton in Oasis Music down in Ringwood (New Forest) and it blue everything else I tried out of the water and it had every single feature I was looking for and more. And to top it off, It had a pre-installed K&K Pure Mini, not a scratch on it and I picked it up for a bargain price.
It is a short scale length, 12 frets to the body parlor guitar ( although a fair amount bigger than my 30's Stella that is sitting beside it on my guitar rack). The build quality of this guitar is exceptional, the sounds is phenomenal and it is hands down the most comfortable acoustic I have ever played. Some stats off of the website:
selected spruce front
Indian Rosewood back and sides
Swiss pear binding
real Abalone rosette
high gloss finish
Macasser ebony fingerboard and bridge
Macasser ebony headplate with inlaid MOP logo
bi-directional truss rod
bone nut and saddle
slotted head with nickel "Grover Sta-Tite tuners"
nut width 46mm
string spread at saddle 58mm
scale length 24.5"
A few pics:
I am not one to normally shout about my new guitars on here but I had not come across Steve Toon before, and I am probably not the only one so I wanted to share my experience about it.
Has anyone else owned any of his guitars before?
All the best
David
