Blues surfaces again in mysterious pub in Devon, if you read the link it is interesting that the landlady is a former contortionist has a parrot at the Bar and has invited a type of animal known as a Marshcat to perform against the tide of sea shanties!!! www.brixhamnews.com/news/a-monthly-blues-club-for-brixham/Regards Lee

Yes indeed leeophonic, and if you are a local you would be well advised to get down there and take a guitar along.
Marshcat is one of the foremost exponents of vintage National guitars around today, and everyone that's in earshot gets a taste of his extremely tasteful slide playing.
Best wishes to Marshcat with the new club, I'm sure it will be a great success. Thinking of going down to Brixham myself May - June to imbibe the vibe.

You would think by now Stuart could afford to treat himself to a nice new guitar instead of all that old tin!!!

Thanks, guys, for the good wishes. Having completed a complex move to Brixham with more vintage Nationals than have ever migrated to the South-Wet, I discover that Devon is something of a country blues desert, apart from Teignmouth's excellent monthly Oystercatcher Cafe session, and with endless sea shanties ringing in my ears I have decided to try and prise any closet players and singers out of the (shiver me) timbers by launching BBT2 - Brixham acoustic Blues second Thursday - at the Maritime Inn. More here on the launch event.

I'm happy to report that the BBT2 March launch event at the Maritime Inn in Brixham was a great success. See Brixham News *here*. The parrot also had a good time. Next date is Thursday 9 April with the My Black Hat quartet and more floor spots would be most welcome!

Hard to play along with sea shanties, they all seem to be on the quay rather than in a key! PT some do say they are in the key of Ahrrrr.

Aloha Stuart, Lee and other harties...
Methinks 'tiz time for a new nom de plume Stuart.. Your move to the 'wet west coast' (Shame it wasn't the Canadian equivalent, AKA Vancouver, would be good to see you again) Canadian joke "How can you tell if someone is from Vancouver?" Answer "They have moss growing on their back" Could easily translate to Brixham.. No? ;-)
So now that Marshcat has relocated from the marshy wastelands to the sea, should he now become a 'Seacat'? Let's form a vaguely orderly queue to venture new names..
And.... Congrats on the new venue, hokum rules ok!

And if you want to preserve that shiny tin from the debilitating effect of the sea salt, I'll give then a good home on Anarchist Mountain, BC, Canada's only desert..

I played two gigs near you recently. At the end of March I was at the Otterton Mill with Ed, and in April I was in Topsham and not so near to you....Barnstaple, with Manish and Gurdain. All three gigs were sold out, so there's a healthy interest in acoustic blues down in the West. Keep on doing it!

Hi Michael! Wanted to make Topsham in April but it clashed with BBT2. Will catch you next time! Maybe fit in a detour to the Dart delta? Aloha, Stuart
