His daughter told me about the fishing lures when I visited her in the 1980s. In the Canadian Musician magazine article was the statement "In later years, Brasher stopped playing. He turned his attention to designing and making fishing lures and supposedly obtained a patent for one of his lures in the 1960s."

I should have also said that I searched extensively for the fishing lure patent, but was unable to find it.
