I put this cone in a guitar 15-20 years ago, and can`t remember where I got it from. It is sitting on a `90s NRP cone and a new `Continental`. The spirals are lightly pressed, and the former that they used for the spirals must have had 4 `faults` in it (they look as if the casting was badly finished) The cone did not have a great sound, rather too much middle, and not enough volume. It could have come from Amistar or one of the big UK importers (Stentor?) Anyone seen similar? PT

Hi Pete,
looks like Amistar, especially if you stated it doesn't sound well.

It is a long time since I have seen one, but I think it is a Saga cone, and you are right that Stentor would have imported these along with Ozark guitars. If it is a Saga, it is too heavy and has no tone. It might look good on your resophonic car with the coverplate hupcaps Shine On Michael

I may have got it with a coverplate from Stentor. It is just about the same weight as both NRP and Coninetal, but the spinning is not as fine. PT

It does look like a Saga, but as I said it is a long time, probably 12 years since I stamped on one!

If it turns out to be an amistar cone, and if you don't like it, I'll buy it off off you. I'm guessing though it isn't cos I really like amistar cones. Cheers TT

Sure looks like a cone made in Korea or China some years back.
