Found a good deal but I'd be buying without being able to play it. I have no worries about the condition or set up. Just wondering what you think of the tone. I've only had 12 fritters in the past (National and NRP).

The more of these things i lay my hands on the more my opinion is that beyond the generic 'punchier highs less bass' sort of answer re. body sizes, every instrument varies so much that you just can't know whether you'll like it unless you play it. If it's a good deal and you're not completely breaking the bank, just buy it, see, and sell it if you don't like it.

Hi there!
I agree.
Plus, if it is a very good deal, then you should be able to sell it on again at the same price or more - so, what have you got to lose ?

Cool, thanks. The guy played it over Face time for me and it was great sounding and in perfect shape, I snatched it up. Speaking of FaceTime, anyone using that (or Skype) to get lessons or share what you are doing with friends that don't live nearby? Seems like an awesome tool. I've played around with both now and FaceTime seems a little better, but of course it's specific to Apple products. Maybe this needs a new thread….

I haven't used that at all. Yes I have been taking skype lessons with Michael Messer when he can fit me in to his busy schedule. I run the skype on an ipad . Great idea to use it to get together and share - didn't think of that! Best, Harriet

Harriet, you should definitely try FaceTime too. It seems cleaner to me. I'd love to FT or Skype with you (or anyone for that matter) and share some ideas, etc. I'd also like to take some lessons but I learn a lot just by sharing ideas and what I'm doing with others. There just aren't any bottleneck style, country blues players around me that I can find!

Hi Gaucho,
I have played a few of the new fourteen fret National Triolians and they are great guitars. As others have said, if it's a good deal, you can't really go wrong.
I don't want to hijack the thread, but I enjoy teaching online and it works really well. The disadvantage is that student and teacher are not in the same room, but the advantage which I believe far outweighs the disadvantage, is that I can teach one-to-one anywhere in the world.
Enjoy your new guitar when it arrives!
Shine On Michael
