Hello, I'm looking for a steel strung guitar with a 45mm or more fingerboard.
Trying to find something chunky necked relatively well made that sounds good and is modern.
I guess I'd like my Estralita with an western acoustic body in someways.
Does anyone have any Ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Preacherman

Dunno if they are any good, but some eko acoustics have 45+mm necks. OR - try a 12 string and take six strings off (really). TT

Hi Preacherman,
Some of the Recording Kings have pretty chunky necks. They were doing a 12 fret slot head 000 that had a neck that was the best part of 2" at the nut. I think Sigma have done a similar model but probably not with solid back and sides.
I have one of the Recording King 000s with a 1 3/4" nut and a pretty chunky neck. Too much for my small hands really but it was such good value I hang on to it. All solid wood (spruce & mahogany), bone nut and saddle, etc for £185 (from Thomann).
I think the Washburn reproduction parlours they released a little while back (with the coffin cases) had 1 13/14" or similar nut width and very chunky necks.
If you have the cash some of the Martin retro 12 fret 000s have old fashioned chunky v necks but they are really serious cash.

Hi, I bought a Blueridge BR341 specifically for the neck size (Well nut width really at 1 7/8") on a parlor size as I have a Martin D35 12 fret with same nut width and wanted a small body guitar too. Its all solid woods and is great for finger picking with finger picks.

Ihave one one of the little Washburn reproduction parlors (like the one in this video, only mine is a lighter finish) and it has a great, chunky neck. The solid wood models sound great too. The bottom of the line model is a laminate and I don't like the tone as much.

I'm very grateful for the info and brands to look at.
Some very appealing suggestions.
I'll try and pop in a reply about what I ended up getting
Cheers

Hi Preacherman,
If you are still looking for that guitar with a chunky neck; look at the recent post from Dessarai who is selling one of those Recording Kings I was talking about. All solid wood and it has a pick-up fitted. Might be worth a look.
