While rummaging through my vintage parts vault I noticed for the first time that one of my triplate cones had a tiny piece of what I assume is aluminum folded over the edge. It's a viable repair as this set of cones sounds as good if not better than many I've heard. I can't claim to have seen a similar repair and I'd like to know if this is / was a common practice.

I've once seen a single cone that had been dealt with equally - aluminum foil with epoxy - on the center though. Looked ok. I believe it was Schoenberger who did it.

I previously posted that I used some aluminum foil tape, that is used by HVAC installers, to repair a partially crushed cone. Glad to hear that I am in good company...
