Nice one Snakehips, I've found the Gordon Giltrap Deluxe a great non resonator slide guitar with its 46mm nut ebony board and solid top and back. It has a Fishman blend pickup and a fairly chunky hog neck.

It has 12.5 to 55 Martin strings fitted (by me) with a 25.27 inch scale length and makes a great all rounder for lowered and standard tuning (slide and non slide) .

So I sent it to Celine for restoration. [...] The guitar now plays like a dream and stays in tune really well. Celine turned this guitar into something way better than when it was brand new. Congrats! How long did Celine's work take?

Hi there !
I don't remember exactly 3-6months perhaps - but she has taken far longer for other guitars.
My advice is go and see her. She is very nice but highly in demand, as her work is so good. I found her more expensive than Dave King, BUT, when all is said and done, her work WAS worth EVERY penny. (Tell her I said that !!)

I have no doubt that her work is stellar. I already have a guitar with her, for a neck reset, bridge reglue and refret. I'm not local so I've UPSed it to her but I've spoken with her on the phone a few times and I can vouch for her being a very nice, helpful and knowledgeable person, and she's always a pleasure to talk to. But I have no previous experience whatsoever with this kind of thing, so I didn't know what's usual in terms of work finished - my bad. I'm past the 6 months mark now, hopefully soon! As for your contribution to me choosing her, it's not the only factor but your testimony on this forum has been a big one, so if you see her again feel free to show her this post. Thanks!

Non reso slide guitars…you'll hate these So I can play quietly and not upset the neighbours too much, a POS "vintage" SG copy thing with heavy strings, ghetto single coil conversion on the neck p/u and a missing input jack which I must have robbed for something else The neck is too narrow and the scale too long but it does for sittiin in front if the TV and playing around And for the newly discovered love of lap style, an old ladder braced 12 string saved from death and reborn for 6 strings, open D and a 10mm action. it's had minimal work, all functional and non-cosmetic. New bridge just on today. That silvertone is lovely btw

Hi 5slide, What gauge strings do you have on your Washburn? I just picked up a 1969 O size Harmony, birch, ladder braced, 24 inch scale and it sounds a bit thin w lights on it - even with a .14 on the high e string. But I'm not sure if it will handle mediums. Thx Jodygc50

Thx Jodygc50 Hi there, I don't actually have that Washburn any more (I miss it though), I believe I had 12 gauge pb strings on there but could be wrong. I use 12's on most of my acoustics, except my reso which I tend to stick with 13's.

Hi - Thanks for the info - I'm going to try mediums and keep a careful watch on the bridge and the top for bellying. Though I may not have this one long myself - I've got a 2016 MM Blues 28 arriving tomorrow and am thinking that will occupy my time for the near future. I do enjoy your slide playing.

The MM28 arrived yesterday (2 hours before the buyer came to pick up my National) and it is a great guitar! Much lighter and smaller than the National and for sure a bluesier sound. I had to tweak the relief / action a bit for slide and it needs a .15 in place of the .13 but it's barely been out of my hands. I may need a 12-step program - because I'm definitely addicted to slide! Thx guys...
