there is a sonic signature to these olde school 6 volt pre-tube--> 6V6 P-P circuits that just defies some form of verbal description.
i have tried numerous times before to shed some thin ray of light as to why these sound ~so~ much better than the multitude of 6V6 amps that have been mfgd since the 12__7 ascendancy to the throne. and many of those have already become classic amps in the ears of the many. anything from shimmering cleans to greasy crunch from most P-P 6V6 circuits, just a tube/valve well suited to guitar use. but well above the call of duty with 6 volt preamp circuits.
starting bid of $400 [in reality] 5 days left, no bids. no love.
for some reason the gibson amps aren't deemed quite worthy in the american amp collector community. as such most of them are a genuine bargain considering what the "collectable" mfgrs from this period currently cost. the onliest variation i can think of are the stereo amps from the '60's, which have started to become dollar intensive. would guess gibson just never had any/many big name rock stars use their amps, much unlike their guitars. just luck of the lotto, as many good reviews come from current day owners on the web.
massive output tranny should be good-to-go with 50 cycle UK/EU mains power. below, what i GUESS is close to the correct circuit EH 100-2, going strictly from the bottles/valves. makes me wonder if non field coil speaker is original, but gibson was notorious for changing amp circuits nearly every time the wind switched directions. -without any notification.- also too many inputs in schematic. if it has been modded to accept a standard [no field coil wart] speaker, it would be a advantage from a strictly player's viewpoint. does seem like it should be field coil from this time frame, however.
