I think it's a Ukulele of some sort but I can't tell whether it's a Soprano or one of the bigger ones. If there's any of 'us' on the Island it would be worth a look, they generally go for £500+.

I'm not on the Island, but (weather / hovercraft permitting) easily could be for half an hour's travel - so I just might go and have a look. Another forum member lives in Lake (walking distance from Shanklin), I've sent him a message, just in case...

Hi, when I was told about this I rang the auction house. The instrument is 79 cm from end to end so too big for a baritone Uke & I can only think that its a Tenor guitar. Both Martin and Gibson made some quite simple looking one's like this.

Hi Chris
that's definitely a Baritone Ukulele, mine measures there or thereabouts. Cheers Dave

A little further info on this one: the headstock has been broken off and re-attached with pegs and glue, plus there is a split in the top... Guess that has to lower the monetary value quite a bit, but may still see if I can get it for a low bid...

It went for £240 in the end; to be honest, I've no idea whether that is good, bad or indifferent given the condition but it was more than I bid... (Funny thing was I had my other half actually urging me to up my bid, cos she misses having a Martin in the house since I sold my acoustic guitar... )
