The Duolian is a beauty but not playable at the moment. I've got the tricky problem of restoring the neck angle without overdoing it, so I may have to research it for a while.
If the chap in Paris, Mike Lewis, is willing to take it on I'll perhaps get it over there.
I've had a couple of Duolians but this is the most original one and actually my favourite model. I've recently sold some Guitars and a Mandolin so I had some money in the pot.
My other half advised me on auction tactics: "Just keep your hand up until you've won" !!

Hi there !
Good buy !
One if my green Duco Duolians has a serial number of C9719.
It's same as yours 14 fret neck, rolled f-holes.
Does yours have the extra wood layer under the fretboard ?
Mine does.
When I first got mine, I thought there was a crack in the headstock ! It is just the point close to and parallel with the nut, where that layer of wood terminates - at the join with the rest if the neck/ headstock. You can see a line in the paint finish, where the join is between the different layers if wood.

Hi
Yes, now I have a close look there is a bit of a sandwich going on there. I believe that some of these had a reinforcing rod of some sort, maybe it's between the neck and the first layer.
It's very odd that we've got two guitars which stood next to each other 79 years ago half way across the world. MIne also looks fairly green in daylight but photographs a bit gold.
Gotta say the auction was a hoot. The Auctioneer had commission bids on both guitars so I was bidding against a piece of paper most of the time. I nearly dropped out of the Dobro at £800 as he pointed to his little book and said £850. He said "Try another ?" and I got it at 900. I think he was giving me a slight hint that he'd run out of bids.
There was also live bidding on the Internet but luckily nobody was bidding.

Hi again !
I don't think yours will have a metal rod in the neck - I think the extra wood layer was instead of having that.
I usually X-ray the necks of my guitars to check for metal - and for any cavities ; )
