...but beyond ~my~ price range.

realize "Tom" must have been very proud of personalized "extended" signature/autograph, but without it the guitar and a signature alone would likely be more collectable.
also realize the GA40 circuit for 1955 had changed, as did the cabinet. the "LP" logo speaker grill went away, as did the mass produced "signature" reproduction. even though it looks good with this particular collection, the 1955 model was likely a sweeter sounding amp and would have been more period correct with the circa 1955 LP.
can't claim to have heard the pre-'55 model circuit, but i am basing this opinion on the fact that Mark Baier of Victoria amplifiers built his "Electro King" amplifier from the later/updated 1955 amp. the choice may have been due to a more simplified circuit, as 6SQ7 and 5879 tubes aren't much harder to locate than the 6EU7 pre tubes found in version #1.
or maybe he just liked the way it sounded better. that would be my guess.
as per advert purchase options---would you have it recapped so you could play it safely, or mothball the entire set?
personally, if i couldn't play it, i wouldn't buy it. regardless of price.
[hope i don't get hate mail from the musuem curators society.]

PS love those olde school circuits with low gain 6 volt pre-tubes pushing P-P 6V6...
