Quick question: with the scale, how much 'extra' do you add to the 12-saddle length? I've been glad to add a good 5-7mm. TT

25 1/2" (3/4" longer than original neck) The neck will also be set farther in, so the bridge is lower than it was (see line on masking tape). Normaly, I put the neck on , then the top and bottom strings of the gauge I want, then a temp. bridge. The intonation will be where it needs to be.

In this case, what was the extra, if you happen to know?

Is that a rare Michael Messer chickenfoot coverplate I see? Where on earth did you pick one of those up spare?

It is a rare coverplate! If my memory is correct, we only had chickenfoot coverplates on the first batch of Lightnings. We also had a few spares sent over, I guess that is one of those.
One thing for sure, in Pete's hands it will be turned into a great guitar.
Shine On Michael.

I think if you look closely you can see its a WW turkey-foot not an MM c/foot. But I guess I could put it on up-side-down and people will think its a MM Chickens-foot. PT

In this case, what was the extra, if you happen to know? Have checked a couple of other guitars (both 011-048 strung electrics) for amount of compensation on the bridge. One is 4mm-9mm the other 5mm-10mm . I try not to do this by `ruler` but with the strings I`ll be using on the guitar. After marking the top and bottom strings on the top with a temp. bridge (most of my resonators start with a top that will later be routed ) I can then mark the middle of the bridge on the centre line and work from there PT I guess I would be tempted (if I had not done this before) to mark 25 1/2" from the nut, on the centre line and mark the resonator hole from that, but it will be about 5mm sharp (6 or 7 if you have a high action ) So I do it `My Way` which also checks neck alignment at the same time

I`ve started.... The grooves go under the ply ring (that the cone sits on ) and lets sound from under the cone out under the cover/p. , I don`t think theres room to do this on a `Reso-Dan` .

Pete, progressing very nicely. have been lurking on this thread since your O.P.--will enjoy seeing the finished product. what brought me out from beneath the bridge on this was seeing a classified add that i'd score myself. [if only my woodworking skills extended into something a little more artistic than chainsaw use].... i can see your dance card will be filled for some time into the distant future, but this struck me as a good price, considering material costs alone: www.tdpri.com/phpclassifieds/showproduct.php?product=38162&title=flame-maple-mahogany-project&cat=9no affiliation with seller. carry on, mitchfit
