not to be mistaken for a posting about a vintage amp. (by my definition) more of what Schwarzkoph wouldda called "shock and awe".... 4th from top of page in "amplifiers" link @: gruhn.com/PA2520 Dumble Overdrive Special with Dumblelator 1991 NM, switchable 50/100 watts, black Tolex covering, two Electrovoice 12" speakers, footswitch, tubes signed and dated by Alexander Dumble, Anvil road case $110,000.00 the truth is sometimes stranger than Nancy Pelosi. mithcfit

I used to do quite a lot of business with George Gruhn. It was and probably still is a great store. They're good people and they know their stuff.
110K for an amplifier. It is bound to happen, as time goes by and the old original amps that have not been screwed around with, become rarer.

i've bought amplifiers from their store before, but only digitally.
really need to make the trip to mecca if i ever get back to TN, though.
in way of showing no slander intended towards him, his pricing... i cried like a snot-nosed, sniveling kid at the price he got from selling me a used victoria victorilux 310 [6L6 model].
WOULD NOT LOOSE MONEY SELLING SAME ON TODAY'S MARKET.

Brad said: ..."A recent Dumble Overdrive Special (head only) sold on eBay for $55,600 USD."... guess that makes the speakers and road case quite valuable... steadyrollinman said: ..."Makes £8,500 for a 1960's Fender Bassman on sale at Vintage and Rare London positively bargain basement."... that is likely due to the amp being built in the USA, and imported to the UK afterward. the same mark-up exists here for English mfgd vox AC30, marshall, and matamp offerings. i look at prices they list for there at various stores and private sellers advertisements, and feel one could make a nice profit buying there/selling here. {unless importation and exportation duties are much higher than i realize.} mitchfit FROM: www.elderly.com(click) FENDER® BASSMAN® RIG (1966) EC, 2X12 (Jensen C12Ps dated 24th week of '66) cab - 40 watt all tube head, dual channels, black face, all proper hardware intact, on consignment * Sorry, we no longer ship used amps. Isn't that the one Eric Clapton has been playing on his US tour after getting to Nashville? Some of the other forums say he bought it from George Gruhns. He can afford it!

UNSPOKEN -directly- SPECULATION... PLS SEE: www.elderly.com/vintage/names/gibson-les-paul-standard-%281958%29--30U-18394.htmtake a close look at the date PRS wrote the on Les Paul's bio. i must admit i really didn't follow the Dumble sale very close, as the asking price was more american inflationary notes than i bring home in an ~entire month~. ;-) be that as it may/may not be, the little 15 watt incandescent bulb lit up, and i then went back to Mr. Gruhn's store. only to find that the Dumble O.D. that i figured would likely be listed for a lengthy period of time is no longer there. a google search revealed no details about the selling of the amp. differing from other items that have been sold in this store in the past, i find "no records" about that amp still exist.... i only feel safe posting this in Michael's largely UK based website for fear of starting up a series of highly flammable retaliation postings from PRS amplifier owners here in the US. [he said hoping there were few that crossed the pond into the UK] that brand of amp is retailing quite high, and fetching used prices that are, uh, less than ideal for their owners at this time here. we have already gotten Mr. Smith's modus operandi for R&D? will be checking for new amp offerings from time to time. mitchfit
