Thank you to all Pocklington attendees for helping to make this year's event so successful. We were completely sold out for the classes and for the Saturday night concert! Robbie, I am so sorry to hear that having driven so far, you couldn't get in to the concert. A few people were turned away because it was sold out. Maybe next year we will use the bigger venue at the Arts Centre. If anyone has some good photos, please post them on this thread.... Meanwhile, here is a photo taken by Stuart Earl on Saturday afternoon in my classroom...... Shine On Michael Attachments:

A major target for me is to have a go at something along the lines of the student floor spots and to find it fun (rather than - or perhaps as well as - terrifying)... Well, I managed that, t'was indeed both (a bit) terrifying and fun, but all went well enough for me and my fab new guitar* with a little help from this friendly chap in a hat**, who - to my great surprise and delight - spontaneously joined me for my first time on a stage, supplying the vocals and some supportive guitar, as I did what I could muster in the way of 'You gotta move'. The whole thing really was Xmas come early, made some new friends, learnt a lot, magic! Can't recommend it highly enough... (Thanks to Chris for the photos) * I collected the prototype for the MM Blues '29 model from Michael at Pocklington - lucky me! . Believe me, that the '29 never went into production has nothing to do with the playability or the sound on this thing! (Once I find and re-insert the notes I seemed to have dropped from 'You gotta move' I'll record and post a audio clip) If I recall correctly, Michael's original post indicated the reason for the '29 not going into production was too much similarity between the '28 & the '29. I've not played a '28, but if the similarities were too great for the 2 models to co-exist then those '28s must (also) be real nice guitars. ** I should add that the moral support from my fellow students was fantastic, really couldn't have asked for a better or warmer "audience" for a nervous first timer

One of the students - the banjo-playing gent (if that's not a contradiction in terms ), name of Graham, big on gospel / spirituals and a voice so deep it's liable to cause landslides. .Can anyone tell me, Graham who? (I did ask and he did tell me, but it seems not to have stuck. When we were chatting he told me he sometimes gigs in Hampshire and I'd be interested to catch him but won't be able to look out for him without his name) Thanks

Hi Bod.
Good luck with managing the tinnitus. I know from personal experience how nasty it is. If you ever wanna chat about it send me a PM.
Regards Steve

Hi Michael, I just wanted to add my thanks for a really great weekend. Your patience was amazing as ever and your stamina. How you can sit in front of 14 resonators all day and then gig in the evening baffles me but I am glad you do!
I definitely came away with some new songs and more material to work on, so it more than met my objectives.
What a great bunch of guys as well: talented, supportive and good company. I am always impressed at how much the other students know about little known artists and rare recordings.
I am looking forward to next year already. Slide on, Pat

Sounds like a good weekend- and refreshed which must be a good thing. I've never managed to get up to Pocklington. Long long way for me, but I am tempted to try to do it sometime.
The big question now is.... Bromsgrove?!

Hi Simon. Bromsgrove is a possibility for me too - only about 30 miles. What do you reckon oldnick and wolvoboy? Bring all those resobash guits for a bit of fun too? TT
