What spider cone cut-away is that he's playing? I hear some slidework in the music, wonder if it's him? Nice Nat Mando too...

Might say if he's playing slide on the album credits - nice group he's got there IMHO.

It is very easy and obvious to be critical of a wealthy TV and film star making blues records. Having that kind of wealth and fame does allow you to work with the best people in the world, which in the case of many people in his position would still not make a good record. I think Hugh Laurie is a good musician who plays with passion and is a credible blues recording artist. In other words.....I don't own his albums, but everything I hear I like.
Let's not forget that even back when we first saw him in sketch shows with Stephen Fry he was putting blues related comedy songs into the show...

Hugh's singing has evolved a LOT since his first album (let them talk)especially live, imho. The way he sings the songs now is more natural, more personal.
Like it a lot.

I think he's a mega multi-talented dude, like his performances and his timing, drama. Unlike musicians who don't act but just play/perform music, I find it interesting to view what aspects he chooses to bring to his music from the array of talent he has, what kind of character he's developed as vehicle to support his music.
On the other hand IMHO its not an asset to have a reputation as a "famous actor" - somehow it dilutes, whereas a less glamorous profession might not.
