Ok, its really annoying, and it can't be him, but just for a bit of light relief, this is one of last.fm's 'Robert Johnson' photos. I think it looks really similar to the other two that are(?) him. TT Attachments:

That's closer than the others that we've seen recently!

His fingers look quite thick; not long and spidery as the other pics.
Who knows, one day we might get lucky.

Hi there !
Oh come on guys - he looks nothing like RJ (or at least nothing like the two established pictures of him, published in most CD's of him.) The guy in this photo is bigger boned, muckle big hands.
The only similarities is that he is sitting down, and the colour of his skin.
Oh yeah, is there any suggestion in the photo that this guy is a musician, let alone a guitar player ? Do we know when the photo was taken ? Might have been snapped after August 1938 !
I just saw saw this thread and just had to comment. I'm interested in what others think, to a degree, but I think it is a bit of a silly topic as people just clutch at straws at ANY black guy - this could be Robert Johnson ! Is there any indication when and where the photo was taken ? I take it, it was taken in America ?

The 2 photos attributed to Johnson are of person who look like he has a medical condition called "Arachnodactyly" and there's generally hardly any meat on the hand like the fellow in the above picture. It can also be a birth defect.
I read that these kind of hands can also be very flexible which probably makes for it being an ideal condition for a guitarist to have.
I"ve seen the above one has floating around on ebay. Marketing has not been successful as it was with the other one.

I love these threads about photos of Robert Johnson. Of course it's not him! Here's one that was taken while he was in Paris playing a Fine Resophonic Mecano guitar..... Shine On Michael.

I doubt there's proof that the 2 accepted are him either.
By the way I can see a reflection of Charley Patton in the resonator.

This is the first and only real image of RJ. All the others are fakes! Shine On Michael.

In my opening post, I did state it was for light relief. However, I wouldn't have posted it if I didn't think it was a little bit interesting. I do trust there is no 'they all look the same' inference aimed at me - I'm not really looking at the black skin (or ciggy). I gave this picture a good hard look beforehand, and although I have no reason to think it is RJ (I know nothing about the picture), to me it looks very like the two pictures that might be him (which I think are the same person). The squashed nose, elf ears and bulging eyelid (albeit on the wrong side - but that's explainable), and the weary sullen look. I'm not clutching at straws - I don't really care if a real picture does turn up. I just posted the picture I saw on FB. 'Silly' me. TT

I agree with Side-496 there is no proof to say the accepted photo,s are of him either so we might be dismissing photo,s that might actually be him!,just seems a little strange to me that there were only two photos taken of him, maybe it was not that easy to get photos taken in those days,i have only to photos of my dad when he was young one in 1940 and 45 he looks different on the two,and around the same age as Robert, also with the same surname Johnson,i also have an uncle Robert Johnson, and my nans name was Bessie Smith wolvoboy

Bo Grohl: "...but just for a bit of light relief..." In Blazing Saddles, every resident of the town of Rock Ridge seemed to be called Johnson! The genius that is Mel Brooks.
