Your voice is a musical instrument. Practice with it.
Don't try to be Howlin' Wolf. Be yourself. Blues. like country, is three chords and the truth. Listen to him and BB King, for example, talk. They sing the same.
Try to relax your upper body. Fill your lungs from your stomach. Learn to use the natural resonant spaces in your body.
Smoking and drinking whiskey are not going to help.
If singing for a prolonged period...WATER. Also avoid dairy before singing. Fats coat the throat.
Practice.

Hi Eggy, Welcome to our forum. Your voice is THE musical instrument. With practice it will get strong and you will be able to sing, but you have to sing a lot to get good. Like any muscle in your body, it needs training and lots of exercise. A runner needs to run a lot and a singer needs to sing a lot! Have fun and keep singing Shine On Michael

Hi
1. try and open your mouth to get the words out clearly 2. look at the text of the song , where you see a comma , breath ...then when you breath turn your head away from the microphone......that way the PA doesnt pick up the sound of you breathing. 3..try and figure out what keys you sing in and what songs you feel able to sing the best .
4... be yourself as others have said it will take time , try to sing songs from different artists and different genres.....do it often and enjoy
