Hello all.
I'm looking to find out how to keep the finish my 2004 NRP Style 0 Deluxe in tip top shape.
I've had it about 2 months and all I have done is wiped it down with a duster to remove fingerprints etc a few times.
It was immaculate when I got it and I've noticed one or two dark spots appearing so would like to know about storage; maintenance; the best product for polishing; the best cloth etc before it gets any worse.
Especially as up to now it's been on a stand and rarely played but this last couple of weeks I've been playing it about two hours a day now and will soon be taking it out to many gigs every week where it will get sweated on and used a lot.
It could deteriorate quickly if i'm not careful.
I've scoured the internet and have become more confused than I was before! There's talk of polish or none at all, wax or none at all, the right kind of cloth, must get sweat off instantly against buffing out later.
My head is spinning.
Thanks in advance.

The only way to keep it pristine as it was when it came out of the factory,is to leave it in its case and dont use it, just wipe it down with a chamois leather and turtle wax it i think thats what most of us do,but the best advice i can give,is not to worry about keeping it clean just play it and enjoy it, wolvoboy

MM recommends "Mer" polish (as a rudimentary use of The Forum search facility will readily reveal) I did not get on with it, always returning to "Autoglym" to regain the shine that I seemed to lose using "Mer". Perhaps I'm guilty of confusing protection with shine? The main problem that I have is first remembering to do it, and then actually getting around to doing it! Good tip-- build up multiple layers of polish. It's worth the effort, and then you can follow the simple regime suggested by WVB of a simple wipe down.

Hi Leedscitystompers,
To maintain the shiny finish and not let sweat and acids eat into the nickel plating, this is what I recommend...
Polish the guitar with a high quality car polish like Mer, or Auto Glym. Then, as Wolvoboy has said, give the body a good coating of Turtle Wax (use the original that comes in a tin) and then then polish it. After gigs give the whole guitar - body, neck, fretboard and strings, a really good rub down with a real chamois leather. Fake chamois is useless as it does not remove the moisture like a real one does. Your guitar should stay shiny and not tarnish for many decades.
The problem with new shiny silver guitars is that every mark shows.
If you need any more information on this subject, search the forum and you will find many threads that discuss this.

Hi Steve,
I think we were writing at the same time!
I have been using AutoGlym and Mer recently and find both are excellent.
