Hi Kenny At this point I have to tell you a story that Mike Cooper told me when I was touring with him years ago. He told me that he found a Round neck Tricone Style 1 hanging in a shop in Reading in the early 60s. He managed to scrape the £7 together in order to buy it!!!!
The joke is that he couldn't manage to find the SECOND £7 for the other one that was hanging next to it. Best Mark

cool story Mark,I've heard a few and I got my own too, Back in 85 I was in around Green-ville south Carolina when I happened on this music store, the store owner was a Martin repair person we got to talking about National guitars and he told me he had a period National cone still in the wooden shipping box it came in,it was marked on the box "National stringed Instruments" He took the cone out and showed me the cone, and said it was a dud as it was way too heavy! I bought it anyhow and after I got it home and looked closer I discovered there was two stuck together!!!!!!!! so I got two new old stock cones in two of my Nationals ,I remember it took a least a year for them to get the throaty reverby sound they should, When B Brozmans book came out I always wished I had saved the shipping box.he could have put a photo in his book!!(actually my wife used it for kindling!!!)
take care, Kenny,
