Can't resist adding this, Michael Dunn borrowed my Aragon and with his usual style made a copy.. (He has made 2 copies now, both totally different from each other) You can see why is not just a fine luthier but also a Gypsy Jazzer to be reckoned (Re-coned?) with! The world NEEDS more Aragons!

Hi Colin, That looks like a beautiful guitar with a great tone It is hard to see it properly in the film - is it an archtop like an Aragon? Do you have any photos of it? Shine On Michael

I had pictures of both at one time, but somehow they haven't made it onto this pc... Or, if they have, I can't find them! Michael dropped by yesterday with a 4 string mini Weisenborn that he had made for a guy in Montreal, which was very sweet. I'll see if I can get pics of his Aragons, and if so will post them here. And, yes, he carved the front and back of the archtops from solid wood, but I think didn't try to cut the coverplate out from the same piece. I'll have to wait 'till I get pics, or go visit him in Vancouver, but recall the coverplate actually sits over the body, not flush.

Great looking (I think?) guitars. Anyway, I was thinking of drilling a couple of titchy holes in my home made dobro exactly where that soundhole is, but I thought it would be weird - Ill do it tomorrow now. TT

If JD was about today, Michael Dunn and he would be drinking buddies, discussing how to improve on acoustic guitar design... I drove a couple of hours to Vancouver on Monday night to see Michael play with Ken Emerson who was in town and staying with Lorene and Art Ruymar, I was chatting to Ken and we joked about our first meeting, in a pub in Burnham Beeches, just outside Slough, where Michael Messer had taken me to introduce us. Ken has a new cd on the way, playing with 'the Cheap Suit Seranders', apparently to be be distributed by Les Cooke, can't wait to hear it! Michael Dunn's site in case anyone hasn't looked at his creations is at: www.michaeldunnguitars.com/Aloha!
