I recently came across this chappie who lives in St Louis. I am (naturally) an admirer of Son House and Fred Mcdowell, and while looking around you tube i discovered DeltaLou. he is a young man who has immersed himself in this music. Like, no doubt, lots of guitarist i tend to work out songs on the guitar myself. I listen to what i like then play around and bash out some aproximation! This man creats very close versions of the original songs then makes a teaching DVD and sends it to you. He made a version of Death Letter for me. The DVD was amazing, both in picture quality and in musical content. If you look here you will see part of the lesson.
If there is anyone out there keen to study this sort of music then i recommend you check this out. While on this subject does anyone know of other people who do a similer thing. It seems to me that this helps students a great deal. To be able to have a unique DVD just explaining one song broken down so clearly would be a huge help to budding players. Delta Lou charges i think just $18. I have seen "learn guitar" sites before but this chap is ONLY interested in delta slide blues! After all there is a big difference between "you've got a friend" and "you've got a good friend!!"

Yes, deltalou looks interesting, though unless I am getting something wrong, he charges $70-$90 for the video not $18

Yes just to clear up this slight confusion....the price i mentioned refers to the lessons that are already available for all on his website. If however you have one created especially for "you" then the price can be more. Does seem a bit confusing.
