I own a Lebeda (is for sale on this forum) and don't like the neck of this guitar. It is a wide and thick neck and the frets aren't curved (unbound fretboard).
At Palm Guitars in Amsterdam there is a Goldtone PBRS deluxe roundneck for sale. Anybody now if this guitar has a curved fretboard and if the neck is thinner?
Is it also a good guitar?

I would ask Søren at Palm Guitars as he has the Goldtone in the shop.
Shine On Michael.

Yes, of course I could ask him about the Goldtone , but I was hoping to get some information about this guitar on this forum and especially from people who own a Goldtone. I would have expected a more detailed answer from you Michael You did a review on the Lebeda and I quess you have some experience with these Goldtone's. That's the reason I ask this question on a forum. What's the use of a forum anyway??

Spoednick, 'expecting' an answer from me without saying 'hello' or 'please' or 'thank you' is not really the best approach. I have answered dozens of detailed questions for you in the past, including many that Robin and I answered via email and PMs on this forum about Busker Tricones. So please choose your words more carefully in future.
I wish you luck in your search, I hope somebody on this forum can answer your questions, and I hope you get your asking price for the Lebeda, which is a lovely guitar.
Best wishes,
Shine On, Michael.

The goldtones are very good, but the Lebeda is a higher level of instrument. You may get the neck you want with the GT, but you'll be going backwards in almost every other respect.
What is your budget? There are a few good custom builders in the US that would give you what you want for under $1000.
Cheers Ben

My Lebeda has a nut width of almost 4,5mm. Also the fretboard is straight and not slightly curved. Thanks for the info.

Have seen some high res. pictures of the Goldtone and the finish (piant) is on a higher level then my Lebeda. Cheers, Nico

I have a Gold Tone and while I can't compare it to the Lebeda, it is a very nice guitar. Great tone, great finish and great playability. Much easier to play than my tricone or my biscuit.

Hi, Nice guitar! Which tricone do you own by the way? The problem with my Lebeda is when I compare it to my Blueridge BG140, is the playability for the fingerpicking style. The Blueridge has the same width on the nut then the Lebeda, but the neck feels thicker and wider. Nico

Hi Michael, It was not my intension to be rude, so sorry for that. Hopefully you can help me with the following: I noticed that the string height of my Lebeda at the first fret is very high compared to my other acoustic guitar. Also is the string height at the 12 fret very high. Maybe if I lower the strings my Lebeda will play better, especially with fingerpicking. I want to try this but I don't have any experience with adjusting acoustic guitars. What can you advise me in this? Cheers, Nico

Hi Nico,
Apology accepted.....
The only way to find out is to try it. Remove the nut and file a little off, then see how it feels. Do it gradually and take it to the height that feels comfortable. You may also find that the neck might feel better with a touch of relief in the fretboard. This is adjusted by loosening the truss rod. If you do want to adjust the truss rod, do it with the strings in tune and loosen it, or tighten it, a quarter turn and then play the guitar. It will instantly change the feel of the fretboard. I would suggest filing the nut first and getting that right.
I hope that helps,
Shine On Michael.

Cheers Ben Hi Ben, Because I still haven't had any reactions on my Lebeda I decided to put on some new strings on my Lebeda. (.013 - .056). What a big difference with these new strings!! Great sound but still to heigh on the action of the strings. As adviced by Michael I am going to lower the nut this weekend. Hope this will helps and maybe I will keep this Lebeda Cheers, Nico

What would be the best height of the strings at the 1st fret? Would be nice that I still can use this guitar for slide. Maybe I will keep this Lebeda if I can get the correct height of the strings. With these new strings the guitar has a beautiful sound! I will keep you posted. Cheers, Nico
