To all you technophobes out there...... Is there anything that I can put between my CD player to boost the signal into my PA so I have not got to crank the CD input on the PA right up to get a decent sound Regards Growler

I guess something like this would do the trick (if it had a variable gain control).. Ideally, a stereo headphone amp or something similar would be perfect - what's the french equivalent of Maplins? Perhaps one of these at around 30 euro (or something similar) Essentially you want something with a line (aux) in and no mains hum (the perpetual curse of cheapy pre-amps).. So 9v PP3 is the way to go (or a 9V - 12V adaptor)

Growler,
If possible, try and go for something with some form of variable gain control, so you can adjust the level. A 'fixed' output may work, but if it doesn't exactly do the trick.. you are back to square one.
'Too much' is as bad a place to be as 'too little'..
Also, from my extremely limited knowledge, a headphone amp is likely to give you a better line out level than a record deck pre-amp.
