.. is one of those artists that I've been aware of for 40-odd years, without paying him much attention, until recently, when I realised that of all the prewar Georgia slide players, he really has something special - his touch & tone are superb, & the pitifully few songs he recorded are well worth getting the Document 'Georgia Blues' CD for (or downloading just his tracks as MP3s). There's a distinctive ring to his upper-string slide work, which sounds to me like he's using an 8-string guitar (with the top 2 strings doubled), & on songs like 'Wait & Listen' ( tuned to open-G but played in D ) or ' De Kalb Chain Gang', as well as the duets/backup with Ruth Willis, he's truly magnificent, & oughta be checked out ... in case you didn't already know...
