On websites such as Little Brother Blues and the National Guitar site when fitting a new cone they glue the bottom of the biscuit to the top of the cone to hold it in place. On my Lightning the biscuit is held on purely by the pressure of the strings and it works fine like that. Any thoughts or opinions?

Isn't it also held in place with a screw?

Hi DaveRed,
The biscuit is fixed with a screw and that should be all it needs. Sometimes a bead of glue can be helpful to get rid of unwanted rattles, but only if necessary. On many original National guitars the biscuit was held on with three or four tacks.
I am sure the biscuit on your Lightning is held on with a screw. I wouldn't take it apart to find out. If it is all working properly, just leave it as it is.

Michael, I was just curious really. Everything on the Lightning is working fine, so I don't intend on taking it apart - if it ain't broke don't fix it.
