Hey Chris,
Tasteful as always. Hope you are well; those cardboard guitars sure do sound good!

Cheers Chris. How goes it your end ? How's the pedal steel coming along ? I'm playing Newcastle again (Cluny) with Ian at end of Sep, be nice to see you if you're free.

Hi Chris,
The trio and your playing sounds great. Those cardboard guitars do sound wonderful. I had one and used it a lot in 1999/2000, but be careful......I was putting new strings on it one day and while fitting the bottom E string with a string-winder, I thought it was winding rather a lot of string around the tuner, and when I looked down at the other end the whole bridge-assembly had pulled out of the body! That was the end of my Danelectro.

Hi Chris,
Nice playing. Just youtubed you and found lots of other great stuff too. That Dano DC sounds great. What tuning do you use and what gauge of strings? I have an old U2 which is fitted with Newtone Michael Messer Electric Slide Classics in 13-52 gauge (I haven't risked a 15-56 set for the reasons Michael mentions above). I usually keep it in open D and it sounds pretty good. What's the other Strat-shaped guitar you play?
Any chance of catching you live in your area during the week of 19-23 July? I'll be at Farnborough so I won't be far away.
All the best,
Joe (aka Mairena Red)

Hi Chris - that Cluny date is Thur 30th Sept, the next day we're in N Yorkshire too. www.ianparkermusic.comHi Joe - I use 13 - 56 on my electrics. That green Dano is kept in open G. My old Strat copy is a Fenix, which I now keep in open E or A. I'm not playing during that week in July but check Ian Parker's site (above) - we may come near you in Sept....Cheers.

That sounded great.
I have the same guitar, I use it as my only electric slide guitar at the moment, they have a really nice vintage tone I love them.
I'm hoping the bridge will stay intact on mine ;D

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the info; I'll probably be able to make the Cluny but not the Buck due to having a gig myself.
Cheers

Hi Chris, Thanks for the reply, you get a nice sound out of the Fenix too. Just shows that you don't need expensive gear to make a good sound if you've got it in the fingers Looks like your Spanish gig has dropped off Ian's list. Shame about that, I was looking forward to a trip up to Murcia. What happened? All the best, Joe (aka Mairena Red)

Hi Joe, i couldn't agree more about not having to pay a fortune to get a good sound. Yes, shame about Ian's Spanish gig. Not quite sure what happened there, but a lack of organisation on their part might be part of it. I'm told this can be the Spanish way sometimes !!
