Hi All, Just to let you know that I have finally finished my cigar box guitar. Actually I finished the construction at Christmas time, but the finishing got to be a bit of an obsession. Its got a electric pickup, P90, and a couple of Piezo bugs under the top. Many thanks to Chickenbone John, for the advice and inspiration. I seem to remember that CBJ knocks out a cigar box in a couple of days, mine took me around six months! A classic case of of mission creep, originally I just wanted something with a couple of strings, al la Seasick Steve, but eventually turned it into a project that was a "normal" guitar minus the body. The theme, as if one was needed, was the "Gambler" guitar, hence all the card symbols and dice. I also used this project to learn how to do inlay work. Some pics Lots of fun to make, even the neck carve with a Swiss Army knife, I had no specialist tools. Cheers Mel

That is quite a piece of work Mel. Beautiful. The dice remind me of my late friend, Jesse Guitar Taylor's Newman guitar with the dice. Shine On Michael
