That was a brilliant piece of playing, I had the pleasure of seeing Tom play at the Slide Festival, I was very impressed, I have since acquired a Weissenborn , I think they are lovely instruments , that piece of music is so fitting for them , and what a superb bit of publicity for the Goldtone SM ....... I will investigate the price of them, as later on I would like to get a better Weissenborn to what I have at the moment . Two questions ........ is Tom recording just with the mic you see in the picture? if so the clarity is amazing, and what tuning is he using.

Growler, The recording does sound as if it is not using the inbuilt camera mic. The mic in the edge of the picture looks quite like an Audio Technica condensor - perhaps a AT4033aSM or similar. The tune he drifts into is called 'Maggies' Pies' from his album 'Have A Taste Of This'.Tuning for this is a hybrid blues/celtic tuning C G D G A D Interesting interview with Tom talking about his tunings hereIf anyone is interested, Tom is doing a 'free' slide guitar workshop (on a narrowboat!) on Sunday 20th June 12:00 - 1:30pm at the Middlewich Folk And Boat FestivalLink to Tom's Youtube Channel - He has just bought some good quality video equipment, and is planning to do a lot more video communication this year. Subscribe to his channel and you won't miss it!

Growler, Also try this company in Spain - they are one of the biggest european importers of Goldtone instruments. Shipping to France will be reasonable, and all prices are in Euros.. And as well as the Mahogany SM they have the new Goldtone Style 4 in stock, made out of Australian Blackwood, which is the nearest sustainable relative to Koa. Very tasty!

Thanks again for info Honeyboy I completely forgot about the Spanish company, of course it is the same company that Mel got his Weissenborn from , their prices are very good as well, and in euros . That Goldtone Style 4 really looks the business . certainly has given me food for thought . I will have to leave it for a while as my Wife I am sure would divorce me if she saw another guitar case coming in the house to join the rack at the end of the room .......... still I might be able to fund it by getting rid of a couple, especially that Les Paul in the brown case Regards Growler

Straight from the horses mouth five minutes ago (hope T.D. doesn't mind me refering to him as a horse ;D)!!! Recorded straight into a mike ~ no effects; Tuning - the old bloke can't remember, but it's one of the ones listed on his website...Goldtone Weiss; 'Evo' slide....still in his pyjamas Slide On ~ see some of you guys at Northampton Ian.

Tom's investment in video making equipment looks likely to provide a flood of great footage over the next few months..
Here's a stunning clip he made to enter a 'short film' competition when he was getting started with the equipment a few months ago..

He's at it again - but more 'wardrobe malfunctions' i'm afraid... Slide On! Ian.

he is so good!! whilst tone is always an odd and subjective discussion - musical phrasing that beats with the heart and pulses with the breath is a skill which you can hear and my o my, Tom is the Man!!
