Hi,
I get the MM blues 12 cases. I will perhaps follow a dobro workshop in few months and so I would like to know if I can put an nut raiser on the guitar and tune it in GBDGBD. If so, which string gauge can I use to ensure that my MM blues will not suffer too much? Even If I need to customize string by string. I was thinking to, from low to high string, : .052 - .042 - .035- .026-.018-.015 What do you think?
Regards Michael

Hi Maikel,
I have done this on my MM BLUES a few times. I have fitted a nut raiser and tuned the guitar up to GBDGBD with no problems at all. I have used my own Michael Messer National Strings (15 17 26 36 46 56), but if you are worried about damaging the neck go a little lighter. The gauges you have suggested are fine.
These are very strong guitars. If they are treated with respect they will do anything you ask of them. Original Nationals are still being played after 80 years of being played andf tuned in all kinds of tunings.
Shine On Michael.
