I've just got a Hacker record player auxiliary valve amp from the 60s . Nominally 7w, but much, much, bigger than that when given a push from a silly pedal.
Who's got what that is pushing a guitar out instead of it's intended signal source?

When I was that young and didn't have any amp at all- I used to use an input on the back of my Dad's Welson (?) twin manual electric organ. It wasn't very loud, but I used to use it with the headphones jacked in when I came home and every one was asleep! I found that if I lined it all up with an old valve WEM Copicat and a Coloursound fuzz box, I could jam away to myself until I was ready to go to bed ;<D I thought I was Steve Hillage!

I did this with old record player when I was younger. Old Dansettes were superb. I wired the input from the stylus to a jack socket, then by adding a simple pre-amp or boost pedal you could get an amazing valve tone at bedroom volume.
Check out the interview with Josh Homme in this months Guitarist where he talks about using old valve radios as recording amps in the studio. Says they're better than Marshalls!!!
