Nice touch this morning. Davy Knowles feature on BBC News this morning. As well as a bit of footage of him rocking out with a PRS, he came into the studio and did about 2 minutes of a song playing what looked like an old roundneck spider-cone dobro. Some nice bluesy fingerpicking, though no slide. Looked like open D tuning to me
Couldnt quite see the logo on the headstock, wasnt a Gibson or a Hound Dog.
Did National make spider-cone guitars?
Anyone else see this?

Dont know if iPlayer can narrow things down to a time slot, but it was on between 8.30 and 8.45 this morning?
iPlayer just doesnt seem to work for us at all. More4 does, but not the Beeb service.
There seems to be a guitar theme going on on the BBC news at the moment. Last week was Loyd Grossman in the studio with his Gold Top Les Paul, and later in the week they had Nancy Griffiths on as well.
More of this stuff please BBC, makes a change from MPs Expenses/John Terry shenanigans!

I enjoyed Davy's spot. When his appearance was trailed I must confess I feared the worst: I've heard too much about hype about 'the latest hot new young blues singer' over the years - and too much tripe from them! ::)However, the concert footage was impressive, not least the 'call and response' between him and the keyboard player, and the acoustic half-song was also extremely well played. What really did it for me, though, was his voice: he sang with real feeling and a really good bluesy sound but without falling into the trap of 'black voice pastiche', as one critic called it. Definitely a young man to look out for! Cheerily, Gerry C PS I was also impressed by his bravery in admitting that he was a huge Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler fan; for a lad of his age that's usually 'Street Cred - RIP'! It's left to us old codgers to let it be known what an amazing player MK is...
