.....I thought I would take down my Fender Squire, remove trem, tighten up those springs, fit it with 12 - 52s,raise the action to eliminate string rattle, drop it into open G and slide around. O.K. so far......
I'm just a beginner at this but I reckon intonation is irrelevant when playing slide since the technique of slide playing will compensate for any discrepancies. What I mean is when I tuned to open G and got a nice G chord on the open strings I casually checked the tuning at the 12th fret and found everything to be sharp which would be a problem if I was fretting up the neck. (That would be difficult anyway with the high action). But with the slide compensating...no problem. But then I wondered about fretting between frets 1 and 5 say as part of the sliding around. Is there going to be a problem? I wouldn't have thought so because I don't have ears enough to hear any problem but I thought I had better ask you lot what you think about this. Thanks, Jay.

No just tuned it to open E and started hitting it. Sounds quite good too if you lay it flat on a wooden or glass table unamplified and play it lap style. I only ordered my 'blues' on Friday so I guess I've got a fair while to go, maybe even long enough to find my old heavy brass slide instead of this thin chrome thing I found rattling around in the back of my amp. Can't wait for the courier to turn up at my work - hope yours comes soon! Pic of the old Jap here in case anyone gives a damn. had it 20 years now - bought it mint...
