I was wandering around Denmark Street today as you do when you're at a loose end (well I was buying some reeds for my Sax to be honest), when I happened across a 1930 National Triolian in the window of Wunjo Guitars, so in I wander. Met one of the proprietors (?) a very friendly Scottish guy who happens to be helping a guy out with his Michael Messer Lightning that he just purchased minutes before..... and even though Robin is gonna have one in the mail to me in the next few days or so, I couldn't resist checking it out further.
Now I'm truely on a buzz, and can't wait to get my own delivered since I fondled it in the store, but beyond this they also have a Fine Resophonic in flame maple which is just way too sexy for budget, a Reso Mandolin, a Reso Uke, and a number of other Resonator instruments both wood and metal bodied!!! To be honest I've not seen quite such an array of Resonators in a single store since the Resophonic store in Denmark Street closed (or maybe I just don't get out enough!!).
Anyway, just in case you happen to be kicking around Denmark Street, if you feel the need to get a fix of Reso Porn, go check em out, a thoroughly nice bunch, and a great selection, and if I had the cash I'd have walked out with the Maple Reso today!!! And if I hadn't already bought an MM Lightning from Robin I'd have walked out with one there and then just because I'm one of them impatient types!!
Cheers
T.

Tony - Its a great little shop that Wunjos. I think Ron from the Resonator centre went to work there when the Resonator centre packed up so that may explain the emphasis on resos. Haven't seen him there for a while though. I often take an hour out from work & drop in & have a play on the resos there just like I used to at the reso centre. And no annoying kids with the amps ramped up as loud as possible, like all the other shops !

Hello everybody, Totally agree about Wunjo, I always drop by whenever I'm in London and never leave without buying something, even if it's only a set of strings or a new slide. Last time I was over (May 2009) I bought a lovely tiger-striped glass slide hand-crafted by Ian McWee at Diamond Bottlenecks (thanks Ian) which has given me hours of pleasure ever since. I also came within an inch of buying a gorgeous Martin D28. The only thing that put me off was the thought of all the hassle Ryanair would give me trying to get it on the plane back to Seville Next time I'll travel with Iberia. They seem to be more sympathetic to flying guitarists If you drop by the shop, give my best wishes to Ron. Apart from being a mine of information on all things related to guitars, he's a fine guitarist himself (catch him live with National Debt, also featuring a well-known British slide guitar player called Michael Messer ) and to top it all he makes a fine cup of tea ;D All the best, Joe (aka Mairena Red)

I was very sad when the LRC closed. I only went there twice,a few years back, when I bought my NRP polychrome tricone there. The 2 guys were so friendly, and let me play several guitars. I only had to play 1 note to know I wanted the tricone, especially when Ron said Christopher Cross had been looking at it, and had gone away to consider having it. Sorry Christopher! Ron went into a separate room and started playing - I thought he was offputtingly good! Here's a link to him playing with Michael (Messer). www.myspace.com/nationaldebtmusic

Hi there
I must say that you are lucky to have a music store that actually has the reso's....and apparently a big one with choices available...
We don't, well, we only have very few reso's in shops in the whole of Denmark....sad enough.....
The country is just too small....That's why I contacted Robin at Busker and Michael for advices, and ended up getting the Busker Sidewalk....
Best regards
Eholst
