Hi Wolvoboy,
Lonnie Pitchford was a wonderful musician and his Robert Johnson covers are stunning.
Those clips are from a great film called 'Deep Blues' directed by Robert Mugge & written by Robert Palmer. The film is well worth watching; Lonnie Pitchford, RL Burnside, Jesse Mae Hemphill, Big Jack Johnson, Jack Owens, Junior Kimbrough....and Dave Stuart of Eurythmics fame. I haven't seen it for years, but it is a good film. The Jack Johnson clip is also a classic. He does a great Catfish Blues.

Hi there !
Yes, that film is a classic. I love the Memphis piano player (struggling to remember his name now) and also, the guy you hear right at the start of the film during the opening credits. Amp drenched with reverb. That is Uncle Ben Perry. I got to meet him and play with him, for 3 days in Beale Street, way back in July 1991 - although I mainly played harmonica. We tried out my acoustic guitar with them, turning their amps down quite a bit, but the sound just didn't carry very far in "Mama's Bar & Grill". Nice guy too and some great stories. He is dead now.
Lonnie Pitchford was really good though. I believe he died of AIDS ?

Lonnie Pitchford sadly did die of AIDS in 1995 I think.
