Thanks, Michael. Yes the 12 fretter is a squareneck, although there's no particular reason why it has to be, it's just the way the demand for them has worked out.

Didn't I include the picture of the Blitzenpecker when I sent this in?
I can add it if you want and apparently the guitar in the pic was mocked up by Dick Blattenberger from Pennsylvania

Yes, despite the heart pills she is still going and recently somebody worked it out that she's now 108 Her playing is coming on brilliantlly since she has now discovered how to use a large bone as the the lap steel, in fact she can probably play better than I can and is currently working on a cover version of Elvis P's You ain't nothin' but a houndog..... I'll ask her is she wants to come to Swindon and do a spot, but you know how fickle old ladies can be ...

Thanks, John!
I don't know where Sven Nordlund was originally from, but he lives in Canada. I've seen/heard Doug Cox playing one of his guitars and it sounded great.

Hi Russ,
The Ray Watkins 'Rabro' is quite a machine! Thanks very much for sharing the photo with us. Where did you find it.....and what can you tell us about Ray & his Rabro double-sided Dobros?
Why do all the wacky ones end up making resophonic guitars?
Shine On, Michael.

Hi Michael -- I'm drawing an absolute blank as to where I got that picture! If you Google "Rabro," you can find some references to Ray Watkins, who lives near Nashville and was (is?) the builder of more conventional resonator guitars. The descriptions I've found say that there is a cone on each side, although the body hardly looks deep enough to accommodate them. Here's another one I've been meaning to post: Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and his four-string "cigar box" from Schoen Guitars -- www.schoenguitars.com. Kurt Schoen builds instruments ranging from a two-string bass to a mandolin, using everything from actual cigar boxes to tone woods, with Quarterman cones. With a rectangular body, it's no wonder he calls them "Turbo Diddleys":
