If you want old National spec you have to pay old National prices.

my very limited experience of such things suggests that, possibly for the reasons Andy outlined above, old guitars are more likely to have steep angled headstocks than new ones. In fact, I can't recall seeing a modern guitar with what I would call a properly steep angle. Is this a change among guitar makers for practical reasons, or just an odd quirk of my limited experience?!

Hi again !
Wow ! Some poeple seemed to have got their nickers in a twist. I wasn't bashing MM guitars OR Michael. Honest. I think all of this has been an over-reaction. Chill brothers !
I didn't say that vintage Nats headstocks are angled too far back either. In fact, I think they angle back as much as just about most guitars. Its the MM guitar I felt was different to the norm - that's all.
Peace !

Hey Snakehips. What you done was OK! It gets folks moving and thinking... If someone wishes to bash MM, National or any other guitars for whatever reason, that is up to them and others can respond as they wish. I did not think you were bashing, I just thought you were making an observation. There are so many headstock types, and why? To attract the different senses of the multitude of different people and make money. Otherwise, why not stick with one type, the one that does the job and be satisfied. No, cause folks want all sorts of different things to tickle their fancy in one way or another. But in the end, it's the sound that matters, and the sound that you want that really matters to you...... Finding the lost chord.... Can't get no satisfaction!!
Take care and all the best
Gouranga be happy my friends
