Wonderful series, marred only by a loud blast of truly obnoxious music at the beginning and end of each segment. Can't wait for #5...

Aaah, splendid stuff! Might have to start either saving my pennies or selling my grandchildren into slavery... ! Or perhaps both!!
In the films Mike reminds me of nearly all the luthiers I've ever known: dedicated, obsessive, humorous and just ever so slightly mad! Really enjoyable set of films. Anyone know if they will eventually be available on DVD? And will there be anything about the restoration of the Havana?
Cheerily,
Gerry C

This is a great series of films that were made by the Sushi Overdrive company a few years ago. They are all available on DVD and have been since their release. The series is called 'Gourmet Guitars' and I hope this was put on You Tube by Sushi Overdrive, or it will be removed. The film about Mike Lewis is 'Gourmet Guitars Volume 1' Gourmet Guitars website - www.gourmet-guitars.com/home.aspSteverino, the obnoxious opening music that marred your enjoyment of the film is Locomotive Skin, which is the opening track of my album, Second Mind. Glad you like it! Shine On Michael.

Ha! Excuse me while I wipe the egg...
Mostly it was the level they chose. I listen to computer sounds via headphones, and the entrance music is cranked to 11 compared to the program. This had me ripping the 'phones off in a panic the first time. I could question their choice of an aggressive uptempo chart with blazing horns for a profile of the relaxed Mike Lewis. Like I was saying though, superb music though a bit too loud.

... My ol' tricone 1991 (part 4, first metal one) looks beautiful in this film, I should think to find her a job in Hollywood.

These 'Gourmet Guitars' films should really be viewed from a DVD on a good TV. They are superb quality and You Tube does not really do them justice.
Pascal, your 1991 Tricone not only looks beautiful, but it sounds beautiful too. I would certainly place your Tricone as one of THE best Tricones in existence.
Shine On Michael.

Michael I have just watched the first one, very interesting indeed , quality excellent , I see what you mean by needing to watch on a larger format. Nice to hear what your talking voice sounds like for first time.......... I loved that bit of slide you played at the end on one of Mikes 12 stringers ................. look forward to seeing the rest of them, also is it possible to buy the DVD
Regards Growler

Hi Growler, The DVD is available from Gourmet Guitars www.gourmet-guitars.com/home.aspThe 12 string is not a Mike Lewis guitar, it is my 12 string National Havana that was restored by Mike It really does need to be viewed in high quality Shine On Michael.

Great videos Michael, Steverino - I think you two might be at cross purposes here: the very first thing you hear blaring out when you watch these recordings on Youtube surely ain't 'Locomotive Skin', at least not as I'm used to hearing it, that cuts in once the 'Custom Guitar Video Blog' credits have passed.
