Hello!
I've been searching the net for pictures of the early wood-body triolians, particularly images that showcase the interior of the instrument and the rare walnut sunburst finish.
I'm comissioning a luthier to build a replica and the kind of info provided by these pictures would help a lot! Anyone can help? I didn't manage to find much so far, specially concerning the sunburst finish. Aside from the two low-res pictures at notecannons, I can't find even mention of these walnut-sunburst finish guitars!
many thanks in advance for the help.

I have 3 of the early wood-body triolians, one walnut, one with surfer girl decal and one with bunch of flowers decal..
The walnut was set up by Marc Schoenberg a few years back and is one of my favorite nationals, pm me your email and I will try and get some higher res pics than those I put on notecannons..

Just what I was looking for, thanks a lot Mark!
Just sent you a pm with my e-mail Colin, I would really appreciate more pictures of the finish, and perhaps some pictures of the interior of the guitar.
Cheers!

Hi,
In Stew Mac's Trade secret newsletters there was an article Do-it-yourself resonator guitar. There is some useful information about structure of wood bodied Triolian. Article copy of mine is is rather poor, but readable.

Mahjong, Instead of commissioning a guitar from a luthier who appears to need a lot of info on these guitars, why not go to Mike Lewis of Fine Resophonic who has the understanding and already builds his own version of the wood Triolian (and owns an original). I'm sure a walnut finish would not be beyond him.

ppuusaari: Would you mind sending me that through PM? sounds like it would be helpful indeed. I took a lot of information from the .PDF guide that had instructions on building that old "delta resomaster" kit that stew-mac used to sell.
blueshome: I think that would be better indeed, but commissioning an instrument from Mike Lewis is probably beyond my reach financially. Specially considering that the country where I'm located(Argentina) has absurd and preposterous importation taxes, which would virtually double the cost of ordering one.
Living in the 3rd world is tough on that way. I considered ordering a MM blues a few months ago, but the value of the guitar meant I would need to find a seller willing to declare a lower value on the customs form when shipping. Either that or pay a value that is almost 150% of what I will be spending with the luthier instrument.
The local luthier I'm comissioning is pretty talented and I'm sure he will do a nice job. The main issue is really finding the info, but between the 1927 steel body triolian plans from Resophonic outfitters, stew-mac's delta resomaster manual and the info I'm finding on the internet I think everything is fine on that front.
The only resonator guitars avaiable in Argentina are the Regal ones, distributed by Saga, of which I own one. I really think I paid too much for it at the time. Maybe I had a bad luck when buying, but it's a 2d grade instrument that has many quality issues.

I just had this email:
I have a triolian exactly like the one pictured in the Early Wood body Triolian link. I got it from my grandmother a few years ago. I'm not sure whether she bought it new or used, but I know she had it for quite awhile. It is in really good condition, just doesn't have the nut. I took the resonator off earlier, I can't remember the exact number, but it was lower than the one in the picture. I was wondering if you had any more information on these guitars? Thanks Johnny V.
I have asked Johnny to visit this forum and let's see if we can help.
