Hi Mr CJ,
The sound holes are routed! Yeah, I needed lots of practice with my mini router. So I decided to practice on the sound holes, then if I messed up I could just cut them out. So I used a 2mm bit to route the holes in layers. Until I got through the board. But they turned out OKish, couple of mistakes, but quite pleased for a first go.
The pickup cover is wood, one of the hardest things to make so far! All the bits, pickup cover, bridge, control panel and tail piece are made from Macassar Ebony. Got a small board to make a pick guard for my Sollophonic and decided to use the rest for this.
My wood working skills are a bit rusty, in some cases nonexistent, so I am making up some of the jobs to get in shape for the big tasks, like the fingerboard.
I am getting a bit better using the tools and so far, touch wood, so good.
I did start off sort of simple. But then decided to include as many tasks as you would need to make a "normal" guitar, just to see if I could do it. Would love to make a resonator. So this is really a test bed to see if I can hack a full size one.
Will post a snap when I get it together.
Cheers
Mel

I hope that the stock has built up by the Festival! If anyone wants to see Chickenbone John in action with one of his instruments, or take a lesson or two from him, you know where he will be on the 23rd of This month! He has kindly donated a Cigar Box stompbox to the raffle for the 'Music Machine' but if you dont get lucky you could even or even commission a Cigar Box instrument from him whilst you are there! Cheers Perce
I just modified this to fill in the word stopmp box that I had inadvertantly left out. so sorry for any confusion caused CBJ

I said I'd put up a Cigar Box stompbox for the raffle...and as I'm franticly making stuff at the moment, I'll see how stocks go...so it could be one of my MojoBoard stompboards or a DiddleyBow Cigar Box guitar...I'll make sure there's at least one prize to be won!

Sorry CBJ I didn't mean to confuse anyone - I have modified the above post. I hope you are not emptying those cigar boxes yourself, I imagine it must be difficult to see in your workshop for all the cigar smoke.
As an ex smoker it is the one thing that I really miss - I used to love a good Havana Cohiba. Way, way back, in the very olden days, I once sat on the coral wall at the end of the Malacon smoking a cigar that a guy had just rolled for me, a huge full yellow moon in the dark sky, while three old guys sitting in the shadows, sang beautiful harmonies, played guitars and tres, and slapped out exotic rhythms on cardboard boxes, but that's another story. These days I just wish I had the boxes!
Sorry again Perce
