I have a resonator guitar that I bought used about 30 years ago. It looked old even back then. I wonder if anyone can help identify it? It has a square neck with 12 frets to the body, which is plywood. The resonator is a single cone, 8 inches in diameter. The coverplate is 9.5 inches in diameter, and has 12 diamond-shaped holes. There is no name or serial number on the body, the cone, the coverplate or the tailpiece. The only marking is at the very end of the headstock, which has B235 stamped on it. I will try to post pictures. Thanks. "] [/img]

Hello Jim I can't see your picture but from what you descibe it sounds like a Harmony resonator probably a Sovereign. These were built alongside the Harmony made National Havanas and are very similar. Does this look like yours? I know yours have 12 diamonds and these don't but they used many different coverplates. I have seen more of them WITH 12 diamonds than without. The ones pictured in the advert are more unusual. Best Mark If the f holes are more pointed it may be a Harmony built Rosita. Both of these guitars feature the cheaper 'budget' version 8" cone.

Thanks Mark, It looks quite a bit like the picture, except that the headstock is slotted and squared-off at the end. Also the tailpiece is different, and the back and top are flat, with no arching. I'll try again to post a picture, but I'm a bit technically-challenged. Regards Jim

Hello Jimmy This is the guitar I mentioned at the end. It is technically a Harmony built 'Rosita'. These are usually regarded as Nationals but they rarely, if ever, carry a logo.
