This is a great documentary, not just for the blues, but as a window onto Britain in 1970.
It's great to see Paul looking so young and with a unique haircut that only Paul could have got away with. I think maybe Val did that one!
I had the honour of playing at Paul's 80th birthday party on 25th May 2007 at the Architectural Association in Bedford Square, London. It was quite a surprise to see photographs of blues musicians on the walls at the Architectural Association building! Paul worked there for most of his working life and told me that many of the masters of the blues played there in the 1960s and 70s - Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee, Big Bill Broonzy, Skip James, Fred McDowell and many others. Paul and I grew up in the same area of North London, Paul in Rayners Lane and me in Hatch End, and we both went to schools in Harrow and the surrounding area. Apologies for sidetracking the thread, but seeing Paul brought back memories of spending time with him.
Yes, lovely to see the footage of Jack Dupree, Alexis Koerner, Mike Vernon and everyone else.
